Historical Events Database

The purpose of our database is for educators to be able to do special projects for their students and to add value to the Chrysalys website. It is not intended to be a research tool.
We are working hard to include events from numerous topics throughout history. Educators in all subject areas should be able to find information of value here. We are using numerous resources to verify the accuracy of the information. Some of the resources have conflicting dates. Rather than leaving the information blank, we used the most authoritative resources at our disposal to select the dates we use. Dates will be less accurate the further back in time the person lived. Keep in mind that the calendar we use today is a relatively recent standard. Our event database has over 50,000 entries.

| NAVIGATION BAR: Under the Chrysalys graphic will be a navigation bar on each page. You have the option to return to this "Event Home Page", "Find Event Records", "View Record List". The page you are presently on will not be linked. |

Search Engine

EVENT: You may type in any of the words you wish to match. Remember, if you misspell a word (or if we do) you will not retrieve the record. If you are not sure of the spelling, just put in what you know and the computer will find all matches. If you put in a common word (i.e. "King") be prepared for lots of matches.

| MONTH OR DAY: Searches may be for any specific date if you supply information for "Month" and "Day". You may indicate if you want days "greater than", "less than", or not equals for any date you choose. |
| YEAR: Searches may be for any specific year. Our calendar goes back to recorded history in the years BC. You may indicate those years with a "minus" (-) sign in front of the year. |
| EVENTS IN HISTORY ON THIS DAY: You might want to find an event in history has the same day one of your students was born. Just put in the Birth Month and Birth Day and every event on that day will appear. You might want to narrow the search to include only "Athletes" from the "Category" column. |

Viewing Records

Once you have completed your search an Event Record List page will appear.

| NAVIGATION: The actual number of hits is indicated on the top right of the list indicating that you are seeing (Records 1-25 of ####). Navigation indicating "First", "Previous", "Next", and "Last" also appear. |
| ORDER OF RECORDS: All records will appear in chronological order by date. |
