Quotes and Authors Database

This search allows you to find all the quotes by a specific author by query to both the Biography Database and Quotes Database.
You may search by the AUTHOR

| NAVIGATION BAR: Under the Chrysalys graphic will be a navigation bar on each page. You have the option to return to this "Biography Home Page", "Find Bio Records", "View Record List". The page you are presently on will not be linked. |

Search Engine

|
AUTHOR: You may type in the FIRST or LAST name or FULL NAME. Indicate if the search should be CONTAINS, BEGINS WITH, or ENDS WITH your search criteria. Remember, if you misspell the name (or if we do) you will not retrieve the record. If you are not sure of the spelling, just put in what you know and the computer will find all matches. If you put in a common name (i.e. "John") be prepared for lots of matches.

| AUTHOR SERIAL NUMBER: You can record the serial number of a specific author in the Famous Person Database and call them up specifically with the EQUALS search. You may see which new authors may have been added with a GREATER THAN search using the serial number of the last author you researched. |
| QUOTE NUMBER: All quotes have unique serial numbers. Again you can record them and search for those items. The result will be the author and all the quotes from that author. |
| QUOTE: This field will search for the content of a quote. You may want all the quotes that mention "love" or you may also enter a phrase. Enclosing the phrase in quotes will search for the exact phrase. Just entering the words will find quotes containing those words in any order. |
| FAME: General categories can be used to search for people in various fields of endeavor.

| FIND RECORDS: You may indicate if you want the search engine "to find records if any field matches" or "if all fields match". The number of records per page may be set at 10, 25, 50, 100, or Max. The default is 25.

Viewing Records

Once you have completed your search a Biography Record List page will appear.
|
| NAVIGATION: The actual number of hits is indicated on the top right of the list indicating that you are seeing (Records 1-25 of ####). Navigation indicating "First", "Previous", "Next", and "Last" also appear. |
| REORDERING RECORDS: The top line of the chart of selected records indicates the information in the columns. Selecting any of these will reorder all the records either alphabetically, numerically, or chronologically. Selecting a column the first time will set the order to "ascending" and a second time to "descending". |
| BIOGRAPHY DETAIL: Each entry has a number in the far left column. When this number is selected, you will be taken to a page that will give you a short narrative about the person's birth date, birth place, major claim to fame, and either their age today or date of death. We are also linking items in our events database to historical people. If the person of interest has involvment in any of those events, they will appear on this page also. |
